My thanks to Jodie and Kevin at "The Savvy Actor" for giving me tools to help me figure out a long term finanical plan and for a smart economical and efficient way for me to market myself sometime in the future after I get more training and experience.
My thanks also to Jonathan at Its-Your-Internet for all your help. His store is located in Forest Hills at 70-50 Austin Street. His phone number is 718 473-0548, and his web is
www.Its-your-internet.com
So, where have I been, you might me wondering? Well, since July 19, 2008, all my attention was devoted to the care of my dad, so my interest in acting was placed on hold. Dad has since improved and I am hoping to return to the field in mid February. Everything is tentative, but mid February is my target to get back in.
UPDATE JUNE 2009
Happy Anniversary to my website! YES, My website is one year old. Here is the latest news to what is going on since I last wrote.
Dad has improved and I recently returned to acting but I am taking it slow.
I worked on the film SALT, and did a showcase in my acting class. I have a 24 minute DVD copy of it, called Role Play (March 13, 2009, DiCagno Productions). I come in at the end, non speaking role but everyone said I stole the show (for that part, that is).
I am on Facebook now, and will soon be on Twitter.
More updates to come, thanks for checking in.
JULY 2009 UPDATE
Well, here it is, and I am writing this on July 17, so it seems that right now I probably would not make a very good newspaper/magazine writer (late to deadline), but acting is my thing, and that can mean months of editing for a major motion picture. Nothing to report since SALT (see June update above).
Well, again, here is what is going on. I am on twitter and LinkedIn but most of the time my updates will be listed on Facebook.
Dad is doing very well but I am still taking it slow. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to check out the website and to those who are following me on facebook. The idea is to keep my name out there, so when an opening comes up for a charactor actor (Bruno Kirby, Rick Moranis type), you will consider me for the part. Till next time (sometime in August), thank you again for your interest in me.
AUGUST 2009 UPDATE
Well here I am on August 16 just updating this in the middle of the month again. My dad continues to improve and I was even able to go on a trip for a few days. I just got booked for three days work for the film "Going the Distance." My acting class is working on another showcase that will be in the Fall and I will have a speaking part this time.
I would like to thank the following people for their recent help:
Nick Coleman of "Coleman Photo/Graphix" for a great photo sessions out of which my new logo (headshot) is now on this website and my other social networking links. His phone number is 917-447-8056, his website is
www.colemanphotographix.com and his E-Mail is
nick@colemanphotophotographix.com. I had business cards, post cards, and of course, headshots, reproduced at REPRODUCTIONS New York office.
Finally (last but not least) I will soon be making arraingments at The Savvy Actor (
www.THESAVVYACTOR.com.) for some additional coaching as they have already helped me in learning how to market myself. Very much recommend. Jodie, Kevin, and Doug are great people and if you are new to this business (even if you are not new) I say you should check them out.
Till next time, thanks for checking in.
SEPTEMBER 2009 UPDATE
As usual, I am late again in the month for my update, but maybe this is the right time because how can I update what is going on at the beginning of the month, so maybe this is the right time. Anyway, I am not going to make this an issue, I will update my blog when I get to it and that's that. So here is what is going on:
Did work on Law and Order, SVU and Nurse Jackie. Do not know when they will air.
Dad continues to improve thanks to a very good caretaker, your prayers, and Higher Power (regardless of what I say in my ministries page, I am greatfull to my Higher Power for the good things going on in my life).
On a sad note, I morn the passing of a good friend that has left us way too soon. A very young 56 years old, I am still in shock and as a mutual friends has said, "it never should have happend." He remains in my memory and heart, and I share with his family and friends my very deep sense of loss.

Continue of SEPTEMBER UPDATE
Back to industry news:
I just started Introduction to On-Camera technique with Chris Lutkin at Weist-Barron.
My thanks to my new friend Cinti Laird and the tips she has offered me. Her website
http://cintilaird.ws/ is cool and I liked the presentation on it.
I have been asked by some of my former co-workers what steps they can take to break into acting and although I am still somewhat new and learing myself I will post here some links as to what I have used so far:
Currently I am taking class at the Acting Drama Therapy Center of NY, with instructor Charles DiCagno, website
www.speakeeezi.com/drama.htm and I am also taking an On-Camera class at Weist-Barron with Chris Lutkin. I took a Getting the Biz class, free sample classes, and the Savvy Actor class all at Weist-Barron and their website is
www.weistbarron.com.
I have checked out classes at HB Studio (not taken class their yet but plan to when I am ready to advance from Acting Drama Therapy Center) but you can start their if you like, and their website is
www.hbstudio.org.
The following is taken from a recent E-Mail sent to some friends who requested additional information.
Whenever you are ready to do extra work and want to know what I did here it is. Remember also I am still very much new at this and not an expert, and still learning and getting ideas, but hopefully this will help.
After researching where to go and how much to spend on a photographer I settled on Alexeipro. This is his contact information.
www.Alexeipro.com, 212 966 9290. The day I had this session he made me prints as part of the package deal (most photographers will not do this, more on that later) and I then went over to register at Central Casting and submitted a print, and of course no resume as I had no work to report, and my only training so far was at Charles DiCagno, and had just started his acting class, so the back of the picture was blank (everyone else there registering had a resume). At Central Casting they also took a digital photo in addition to accepting my headshot.
Now back to about photographers. In general this is how it works. You find a photographer you feel comfortable with. You set up an appointment, bring change of clothing, and devote a few hours to the session. After the session you get a CD disk of all your work, and, if you are lucky, a print (or 100 prints, depends on the deal), but just expect just the disk. With this disk you must take it to a photo reproduction place for the prints but you also will be able to upload or download it to your computer. This is important because more and more often casting companies are asking people to send this their picture through the computer.
Now as far as prints, I only have use one company, called REPRODUCTIONS, and here is their information:
www.Reproductions.com, 70 West 40th St. 3rd Floor, NY. phone 646-502-3700.
In recent weeks I found out about an online casting company and just joined them,
www.NYCASTING.com
I buy Showbusiness newspaper on Tuesdays and Backstage newspaper on Thursdays.
Earlier tonight I just signed on with Mandy, another film/tv professional resource,
www.mandy.com, and I may try craigslist too, be careful for scams. I keep getting online ads from InstantCast but I don't trust them.
Be willing to spend the money on the photographer and Reproductions or any place that will do that. Also at central casting they do charge for the digital photo, and at NYCASTING that also cost money, all legitimate. Even with Mandy I am getting a month free and do trust them because of the recommendations of other actors I have met on the set doing background. One more thing, and this costs money too but well worth it when you are ready to go further is the savvy actor
www.thesavvyactor.com, they have classes on branding and treating the acting business as a business and they do coaching and I am happy to be part of the savvy actor community.
One last word, back to photographers, my last headshot was done by Nick Coleman. His session was free because I won it in a raffle when I went to an acting expo a few months ago. His work is very good and his contact is 917-447-8056,
www.colemanphotographix.com, and his E-Mail is:
Nick@colemanphotographix.com.

October 14, 2009:
First off, sorry to anyone who was disappointed in watching to see me in a show that I was not in. Could be I had the wrong eposide in mind. Maybe I will be better off if I wait for the broadcast before I get anyones hopes up.
Thanks to the staff of
www.its-your-internet.com (718) 473-0548, for the nice work they did in scanning and putting in my updated complete resume.
For my friends who know my dad, he is doing very well, thanks in part to the wonderfull work of his caretaker, Zoie. God Bless her.
I will be on a three day seminar for Acting Success Now and will also be attending the upcoming Actorfest. That's all for now.
OCTOBER 18, 2009:
I fully recommend checking out Acting Success Now at
www.actingsuccessnow.com. This 3 day seminar has opened my eyes and I expect that by next year at this time my progress will advance way beyond previous expectations. I will use the tools and do everything possible to move further in my career. I think this will also help me in my personal areas beyond acting.
OCTOBER 22, 2009:
If you watched very carefully, for a very brief moment, and not very clear, you would have been able see me in the L&O,SVU, that was broadcasted on NBC ,Wednesday. Oct 21,2009. I was in the jail cell when all the detectives where throwing the other perps into the cell.
OCTOBER 26, 2009
I have a YouTube account. Check out my expermental uploads:
OCTOBER 31, 2009
Had a nice visit to my old job during the midnight tour, seeing the hard working dedicated professionals of the lifeline of the City of New York.
Uploaded a 5 minute plus video from an acting showcase taped live in front of a small audience called Role Play. DiCagno Productions. Taped 3-13-09. I have a non speaking role playing the husband. See this video at
www.youtube.com/barrygreenblatt.
THANKSGIVING DAY November 26, 2009
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.
Dad has been back in his own apartment one year now since leaving nursing home. November 25 was the date he came home, and since that time Dad has improved a lot, way beyond most peoples expections. Almost everyone said to not expect too much improvement but one person told me way back when he got sick July 19, 2008 (when I found him on the floor semi conscience and seemed every worse after the operation) that it takes about a year, a "good year" to see improvement but not to dispair, that for brain surgery for his SubDural Hematoma that it would take that long. My friend Marta E Perez got it right.
Now, there are times when he has good days and bad days, but overall, he is doing very well. I am going to the flagship dinner to bring over the Thanksgiving dinner.
As for acting, did background on the Adjustment Bureau. Completed my first on-camera class semester, making new friends, and of course planning on more on camera training while continuing my Friday acting class geared more towards theatre acting. I will also be looking into classes for different aspects of training such as comerical class, improv, cold readings, as we get closer to next year.
Thats is all for now. Thanks for checking in.
DECEMBER 18, 2009
First update since Nov 26, and here's whats happening (sounds a like like the televison and radio news, doesn't it).
Dad continues to improve due to the great care of Zoie (the caretaker). Got them a new phonograph-radio-tape-CD combo player (they have lots of vinal LPs). Today is the last day of Hanukkah and the lights are in full view (all 8 candles/lighbulbs), Christmas one week away, and I am in the Holiday Spirit.
No work recently although I still submit for projects.
...and finally, I leave you with this last personal thought for this post:
new goal: by 2359 hrs on Friday, December 31, 2010, i will be signed up with an agent, be a SAG, AFTRA, and Equity member, and get signed up for multi million dollar movie and television projects (yes, both a TV and major Film contracts), and be interviewed by Oprah, Barbara Walters, 60 Minutes, Larry King, Entertai...nment Weekly, TV Guide, Time, The New York Times, Backstage, NY Daily News, NY Post, and Newsday!!!!
JANUARY 17, 2010 UPDATE

HAPPY NEW YEAR
_____________________________
It has been a while since I last updated this, sorry about that, had some personal issues to deal with, and do not have much to report right now except to say that I am working on a new scene and monologue for my Friday acting class and if I am luckly might be in the next showcase. As for "EXTRA work," I have not seen any "action" this year, nor have I heard "Background!" called, but I have been submitting for work and have poss work ahead but have not been booked yet.
I hope by next time I will have something positive to add as far as work is concerned, but in the meanwhile, I am greatfull for all that I have and those goals I have listed the last time are still in place.

UPDATE MARCH 27, 2010
Well, it has been quite a while since my last update, and I have a lot to say.
First, since the last time I wrote I have worked on Mercy and Boadwalk Empire. The Mercy eposide already aired, and I was told I was seen, although I have not had the chance to see it myself. Boardwalk Empire is in production and will be on HBO later this year.
Tomorrow, Sunday, March 28, 2010, I will be attending the Showbiz Expo at the Hilton hotel in Manhattan and hope to meet many people there. Early today I delivered 3,000 business cards to be placed in gift bags that will be handed out tomorrow. If you get to see this update before the expo let me know if I see you there. For more frequent updates, follow me on Facebook. Till Next Time. Peace.
____________________________________________________________________
UPDATE APRIL 8, 2010
Have worked on Boardwalk Empire. Great set and clothes. I expect this will be a big hit when it comes out later this year on HBO.
Increasing my auditions and submissions. Going to seminars, workshops, classes, keeping up on the business. May be adding additional websites soon with more content and video ability (this one is limited) but will still keep this orriginal as this is my baby. New website, when I do it, might have middle name or initial and when the time comes I will provide that information. In the meantime, I am on Twitter although I do not post much. I am a big user on Facebook and make frequent updates, so that is the best place to see what is going on with me. That is all for now. Thanks for checking in.
_____________________________________________________________________
UPDATE May 22, 2010
Some personal and professional updates to post. My Dad turned 84 on Sunday, May 16, 2010 and he is doing well with the help of his caretaker. Pictures of his celebration on my facebook page.
I will be returning to Wesit Barron May 26 for a 6 week advanced on camera class and will also return to my Fri night scene study/monologue/technique class in June.
You Don't Know Jack has been shown on HBO and you can catch a few shots of me during the last 20 minutes of film. Too bad I can not post any on this website, but I will not violate copyright laws.
Finally, I am working on an alternate website that will be able to feature a REEL (when I have one) and other features that are limited by this one, but, I will still keep this one as this is my "baby." I will let you know when the new website is up and running.
In the meanwhile, please visist me on Facebook.
______________________________________________________________________
UPDATE JUNE 3, 2010
I have started attending my new advanced film class at Weist Barron with Chris Lutkin. I hope I will have a video to display at the completion of the class, and if I do, it will go on my second website. That's right. My second website is in development and hope for it to have enhanced features that this one does not, but I am still keeping this orriginal website no matter what. This is my "baby," and I will continue to update this page from time to time. Now, as to the new website, if it all works out as I hope, new and under construction, it will be www.barryjgreenblatt.com The difference, the "j" added. I am still a frequent Facebook user, and that is where you will see my almost daily updates. ______________________________________________________________________
UPDATE JULY 2010
(Friday July 9, 2010)
Will be having a short (75 second) professionally produced Actor Intro Essential HD Video. Might not be able to display it on this website but will probably be able to display it on my other website: www.barryjgreenblatt.com (still a work in progress) and should have no problem getting it on FaceBook and Twitter. Working toward further marketing myself. Taking small steps, but I am going to make it big, just stick with me, you'll see. Follow me for more frequent updates on Facebook. _____________________________________________________________________
UPDATE FRIDAY JULY 30, 2010
Something exciting, two recent videos. One from ActorIntro, a short video introduction, and the other from my acting class, a few minutes of a scene I enjoyed working on. Credits are due here to Brad Holdbrook for the Actor Intro Video. He did a great job, and Credit to Chris and Heather Lutkin for her script and his teaching lessons, great film work, and excellent editing. Now, the next thing, and this has to do with how smart I am using new technology, I do not know if these links on here are going to work untill after I add them and test them out. I hope it works.
OK, just try this one first for now, and at another time I will add the second one as I am unable to add it on now.
UPDATED ON SATURDAY JULY 31, 2010
....and above is the link to the second video---called Scripted--Kiki's Gone--Part 5.
and check out Scripted: Power Plays--Part I
OK, got it all together here,
In Order, My Three Selected Videos (so far)

UPDATE AUGUST 19, 2010
During my first week in August I worked on an indy film (no title) that I think is going to be a hit when it is finished. I also went to my very first Wrap party last week.
I have plans to return to my old Friday night class in October at the Acting Drama Therepy Center of NY, and I plan on also returning to Weist Barren soon for another class or two very soon.
Finally, I have some more marketing tools on the way (new business cards, pens) that will help get my name out as I continue to move foward in my dream to becoming a working actor.
______________________________________________________________________
UPDATE OCTOBER 5, 2010
It has been over a month since I last updated this page and I have a few items to report.
I have have news about this my other website later but first let my inform everyone that the company that has set up this site: Its-Your-Internet has moved to a new address, which is 70-50 Austin St, in Forest Hills, Queens, NY. Their phone number is the same 718 473 0548.
I have worked on an another indepentent film (no pay) and am resuming classes this month.
I am closing down my other website, which was
www.barryjgreenblatt.com, because I was overspending. I admit it. I was not watching my budget in a responsible way, so I have to make better choices. I used to send scratch off lottery tickets with my birthday cards but I can not do that anymore, at least until I either win the lottery itself and or sign a major motion picture, television, or theaterical play contract. I still think positive, it will still happen, but for now, I will have to be a smarter businessman. I will still market myself, with business cards, and other marketing tools, but I do not need the other website. My reason for it and for the plan of even a third one was to get all the domain names (including my middle inital and middle name) but there is only one me, so this will have to do. I am also on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, all free sites, so the only one I will be paying for is what you are seeing now,
www.barrygreenblatt.com I am not giving this one up, so look foward to another update sometime in the future and continue to follow me on Facebook, which I update almost everyday.
STARTING 2011 This is OldBarrysBlog Page..meaning..I have NewBsarrysBlog for all new posts, and whenever I update it, I will move what is already there to this page, so this is like an archive of all my blogs, with all new ones on the new page.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011
As I start off 2011 please note the following. I have updated the website so now there is an OldBarrysBlog page and a NewBarrysBlog page. This is my intent. If it doesn't look right that is because I may have made an error since I am still very much an amature when it comes to computer skills.
It might need some fixing. Anyway, when ever I decide to update my blog, I will move the current item to the OldBarrysLog page.
So, what is there to report. Well, I am still taking classes but that is about it. Continue to see more current updates on my Facebook page.
--------------------------------------------------------------
ONE MORE REMINDER......
This is "OldBarrysBlog" page, meaning that when ever I have something "new" to say, it will be in "NewBarrysBlog," and what ever was in there will be moved to this one, so this is just a record of everthing of my blog entries, like an archieve.
--------------------------------------------------------------
March 9, 2011
Hello everyone. Since my last post here is what is happening....
I have completed a Commercial Print class at Scott Powers Studio (with Scott Powers) and am working on getting photos for new comp cards. I am also working on getting an agent.
I have been booked to work on the 2nd season of Boardwalk Empire, with a different outfit from last year.

On a personal note, my Dad is doing better these days and has a great care taker who has been helping him for over a year now.
As for updated news, as I have wrote earlier, I always update my Facebook page. If you are not already on Facebook and want to be Friends I ask two things: 1. Request Friendship, and 2. Very Important, Send me a Message over Facebook (you do not have to be a Friend to send a message) stating you have requested Friendship and your connection to how I know you: for example, from class, boardwalk empire or any show we worked on, from my previous job at Police Communications and other previous work experience, a friend of a friend, or a fan.
That is my update. Till next time.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday March 18, 2011
Also, I have updated info on In The Media, (although not my acting career, but important information anyway) and new posts in BarryGreenblattMinistries (also not about acting but of interest) added to the bottom. These updates are the first time since June 25, 2008.

Updated May 23, 2011
Recently took photos for new headshot and comp card. Will be going to Reproductions for prints. My thanks to Michael Keel, Photographer, and his wife for hair and makeup, on a great job.
On another subject matter, a little late, but I am just discovering "Lady Gaga." I watched her on Saturday Night Live and just now her interview on "The View," plus reading articles and starting to be able to identify her songs when I hear it being played on the radio. I like her opinions, as I have often had self esteem issues in the past and hope her message of being brave can help people cope.
Thanks for checking in. ------------------------------------------------------------ REMEMBER....this is the "Old Barry's Blog" page....always check the "New Barry's Blog" page for my new current updated notes, and when it is updated...the previous notes are placed here for those who want to see what was there earlier. ------------------------------------------------------------ June 28, 2011
New Resume is now updated. Check it out.
Continuing to take classes, seminars, workshops, and going on auditions, including the Scott Powers Forum. Next one, Thursday June 30, 2011, I will be auditioning and meeting with industry insiders at The Scott Powers Studio Commercial Casting Director's Forum.
Last week I attended Gwyn Gilliss Commerical Crash Course and learned a lot. Noah Suchoff from Atlas Talent Agency was present.
Also recently attended Lisa Gold's seminar, and prior to that a Bobby Holder event.
I am being very pro active.
Recently worked background for Boardwalk Empire.
Special thanks to fellow actor Mark Gillespie for helping me with re typing and formating my resume for me and special thanks to Jonathan Jaffe at www.its-your-internet.com for scanning it into the system.
Till next time. |
| October 24, 2011
Here is an update of what is going on since my last update.
I will be resuming classes at Scott Powers Studio in November taking Advanced On-Camera Commercial Intensive with instructors Alison Franck, Chris McKenna, and Cynthia Katz.
On October 27th I will be attending my next Scott Powers The 2011 Agents' Best of the Best Forum.
In other acting related news I was very pleased to meet comedian Nancy Redman after her very funny performance CLUTTER: I'm Saving MY Life and It's Killing Me, which was held at Theatre Row in Manhattan and she was very approachable and is now my friend on Facebook. She will perform her show again on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 9:00PM at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, in Manhattan.
Now, to non acting news, I am happy to report Dad is doing a little better recently and I once again thank his great caretaker, Zoie.
Finally, I am looking foward to attending the ACES Halloween party being held on Oct 29, 2011. ACES stands for the Advancement of Civilian Employees Society (of the NYPD) and we will be honoring Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly.
Just in case you do not already know, I was a Police Communications Technician (9-1-1 Police Emergency Calltaker, Radio Dispatcher, Supervisor, and retired as a Principal Police Communications Technician), which is a civilian position. It is a very stressful job and would still be working there is not for the early pension plan I took that allowed me to retire early and allow me to get into acting.
I remember during the effort of DC37 Local 1549 Union to get the pension law changed during Gov George Pataki's administration that one of my co-workers approached Police Commissioner Kelly and asked him if there was anything he can do to help us along. My co-worker said that PC Kelly answered "I'll see what I can do." It was not that long after that conversation that the law passed and I signed up.
Well, I can go on and on but I think I have said enough for now. Hopefully the next time I update this blog I can write more positive personal acting news. Thanks for checking in and have a Happy Halloween. -----------------------------------------------------------REMEMBER...this is Old Barrys Blog page. See New Barrys Blog page for the most recent update and know that whenever it is updated the old one is posted here in case you ever miss an update. ----------------------------------------------------------- DECEMBER 11, 2011
Since my last blog here is the update: I just finished training with both Alison Franck from Liz Lewis Casting and Cynthia Katz from Gotham Talent Agency on my Advanced Commerical class at Scott Powers Studio.
Remember to see Old Barrys Blog for older posts.
